On Juni 1st 2011 seven Mooneys flew to Deauville, LFRG. Deauville is at the Atlantic coast North of France. One week before the G8 summit was in Deauville and now the Mooniacs meet here. Klaus and Annette came from Denmark with their Mooney, the other 6 Mooneys came from Germany.

In Germany we had IMC but as soon as we reached France we had good weather and good visibility. In Deauville there was sun but cold winds. After a walk through the glamorous seaside resort of Deauville all Mooniacs had arrived and we went to dinner.

The next morning we flew further West to La Rochelle, LFBH. Some flew direct, others along the coastline. La Rochelle is a port city on the Atlantic coast, situated halfway between Nantes and Bordeaux. Two more Mooneys arrived so we were 15 Mooniacs in 9 Mooneys altogether. After a sight seeing walk through the old town located around the old harbour and some shopping we all went to a big seafood dinner at Bistrot André at the old harbour. We had a long table outside and tried oysters and different seafood which we did not know.  We finished the evening at the bar of our hotel.

For the third day of our tour we had planned to fly to San Sebastian in Spain but the forecast for the evening and the next day said lasting thunderstorms and low visibilities. Some of us only had VFR so they could not fly home from there. For the day after that we had planned to fly to Lyon and have our Annual General Meeting (AGM) there. But also for Lyon the weather forecast was bad which meant no VMC. After some thinking what we should do we decided to change our tour.

One Mooney flew to Lyon, another to Autun, another to Aix-en-Provence to visit family there, three others flew to Chartres, LFOR, and three Mooneys flew back home. We were thinking of meeting for the AGM in Lyon the next day but as Lyon had bad weather on the morning of June 4th Thomas cancelled the AGM. We will have our AGM at another place soon.

Rainer and I had flown to Chartres together with Bernd, Heike and Peter.  Chartres is a nice town with a beautiful gothic cathedral. We spent a nice day there. The next day we flew back home in close formation. All three of us landed at home before the thunderstorm.
