Dear EMPOA Members,

I want to introduce myself as the new president of EMPOA and want to thank Thomas Hamacher for his dedication over the last few years. Thomas created the website "mooney.de" and had the idea to expand this to form a Europe wide organisation, EMPOA. He will still be there to help us shape the future of EMPOA bringing his ideas and contacts; he will be organizing the Mooney Flight Safety Training in 2012. I started as an enthusiastic pilot of fast microlights and have now been flying Mooneys for six years, starting with an M20J and then for the last four years a Mooney Ovation. Birgit and I have flown our Mooney all over Europe and even across the Atlantic! I also use my Mooney for business trips where I appreciate the reliability and safety of this plane. I am pleased to welcome to the EMPOA board Peter Kraus as our newly electedvice-president; he also has a Mooney Ovation. The EMPOA board is completed by Birgit Vogelbruch who doubles up as our treasurer and public relations person. The EMPOA board has already started its plans for 2012 with the launch of our new website www.EMPOA.eu where we want to promote the interaction amongst all EMPOA members. Recognising that we are a European organization the website has been developed in French, English and German. We have under development a new section "Fly together" which will enablemembers to arrange fly -outs and meet up at destinations chosen by them. So we can decide on short trips or weekend trips beside the main EMPOA organised "Fly-ins". We are also developing a new forum which will be multi-lingual to simplify communications between us all. Additionally, we have started talking to various aviation service providers regarding cooperation with EMPOA. More information on this will be published on the website soon. Finally, every EMPOA member will be getting a user name and password so that they can get secure access to the EMPOA site. We will be issuing these as soon as we have sorted out the technical infrastructure.

EMPOA-Simulator-Program
|
|
Mooneys are fast and pilots get used to the speed quite fast as well. Mooneys are also complex airplanes and many of us operate their machines as „personal airliners": professionally and according to the procedures. Those values are also the values of airline operation where your fellow Mooniacs David Kromka and Francesco are at home. As captains on the Boeing B767 and Embraer ERJ195 jetliners they work for major German airlines but have never lost their love for the single-engine pistons with the vertical tail.
Their personal connections to the training department of Lufthansa have made a very unique training program for EMPOA members possible: specially designed flights in airline-simulators in Munich and Frankfurt. And even though there are other options to get into one of those simulators, these are always much more expensive and the large size of the group rarely gives you an insight into the airline's world.

David and Francesco can offer you the simulator (almost) at their own basic cost and would be happy to take-off with fellow Mooniacs „at sea level".
The following aircraft types are possible: Airbus A320, A330, A340 as well as Boeing B757/767 and Embraer ERJ195. You can expect a professional briefing, instrument approach and landing charts (to take home later) as well as a guided tour through the Lufthansa training center. Ahead of the mission you can tell us which airport you prefer for your training and flying. The feeling in the full-flight-simulators is totally realistic: video, sound and motion let you believe you are in the real airplane.
One hour simulator for two pilots comes at 550 € (or 275 € per Person); briefing, charts etc. will be provided from us for free. We suggest that you do this event as a two-pilot crew because the big jets are always flown by two. This way both pilots will profit best from the time in the simulator. Halfway into the session we will swap seats from left to right and vice versa. Those ones having no partner can contact us and we check if a pooling with another single person is possible. It is however also possible that we explain the duties of the „Pilot Non Flying" to your wife, girlfriend or any other interested person you bring along.

The simulator sessions are available from now on and you can contact us at the details shown below:

Report from the Fly-In to Oostende 22.-23. 09.2012
by Birgit Hutz
|
This year's Mooney Fly-In on 22nd and 23rd September 2012 took us to Oostende. Oostende is a Belgian seaside resort on the North Sea. Bernard Maeterlinck organized this 4th International Mooney Fly-In for us. 8 Mooneys arrived during the afternoon at Oostende airport, EBOS, where the weather was fine. We had a great approach above the sea to runway 08. Bernard welcomed everyone personally at the airport and had organized transport to our hotel, the Thermae Palace, which was located directly at the beach of Oostende. There we met more Mooniacs, who came by car because they were near by.

EMPOA Reise 2012
