Dear EMPOA Members,

I want to introduce myself as the new president of EMPOA and want to thank Thomas Hamacher for his dedication over the last few years. Thomas created the website "mooney.de" and had the idea to expand this to form a Europe wide organisation, EMPOA. He will still be there to help us shape the future of EMPOA bringing his ideas and contacts; he will be organizing the Mooney Flight Safety Training in 2012. I started as an enthusiastic pilot of fast microlights and have now been flying Mooneys for six years, starting with an M20J and then for the last four years a Mooney Ovation. Birgit and I have flown our Mooney all over Europe and even across the Atlantic! I also use my Mooney for business trips where I appreciate the reliability and safety of this plane. I am pleased to welcome to the EMPOA board Peter Kraus as our newly electedvice-president; he also has a Mooney Ovation. The EMPOA board is completed by Birgit Vogelbruch who doubles up as our treasurer and public relations person. The EMPOA board has already started its plans for 2012 with the launch of our new website www.EMPOA.eu where we want to promote the interaction amongst all EMPOA members. Recognising that we are a European organization the website has been developed in French, English and German. We have under development a new section "Fly together" which will enablemembers to arrange fly -outs and meet up at destinations chosen by them. So we can decide on short trips or weekend trips beside the main EMPOA organised "Fly-ins". We are also developing a new forum which will be multi-lingual to simplify communications between us all. Additionally, we have started talking to various aviation service providers regarding cooperation with EMPOA. More information on this will be published on the website soon. Finally, every EMPOA member will be getting a user name and password so that they can get secure access to the EMPOA site. We will be issuing these as soon as we have sorted out the technical infrastructure.

TANNKOSH goes for a creative break
Dear Tannkosh Pilots and Crews,
may we inform you that, after giving it much thought, we have made the decision to take a “time out” in the TANNKOSH planning for 2012; the next TANNKOSH will take place in 2013 (August 23 – 25, 2013).
The Team needs a break to fill up the energy level again, after reaching a new high point during Tannkosh this year. We also have some new plans and ideas and will use the break creatively in order to welcome you back, in full force and high spirits, in 2013!
THANK YOU ALL for your support, some of you have been with us for years, and thanks for being a part of Tannkosh, hope you'll share the spirit with us again!
In the meantime, you are very welcome to visit us at any time, we’ll always be happy to have you with us here in Tannheim, and hope to see you at Tannkosh 2013, of course!
Best regards from Tannheim,
Verena, Matthias and TEAM TANNKOSH

Mooney Fly-In to Paris 23.09. - 24.09.2011
von Birgit Vogelbruch
This year's European Mooney Fly In was organized by the French Mooniacs Gilles Khaiat and Jacques Callies and they decided to meet in the Aéro-Club de France, the oldest Aeroclub of the world which is in the heart of Paris. Paris is lucky to have many airports for general aviation. The Mooniacs flew to Toussus le Noble, LFPN, south west of Paris. From there a pick up was arranged to down town Paris. The weather could not have been better: bright sunshine, no clouds and great views.

EMPOA-Tannkosh August 2011 26.08. - 28.08.2011
by David Kromka

If they wouldn't have this grass runway... That might have been on the mind of many Mooniacs after reading our invitation to the EMPOA-Tannkosh Fly-In on the website. Nobody wants his Texan speedmachine to be harmed and our low landing gear is good for all kinds of things, but certainly not for the use on unpaved runways. But some of us are regularly operating on grass, know the procedures and have no problems whatsoever.
But Tannkosh, the legendary aviation gathering in Tannheim, was a good reason for some to give it a try and attempt a „landing on the lawn“. But let's put things into perspective.
Early 2011 it came up my mind that having a Mooney meeting in the Allgaeu region would be an interesting thing and would offer the chance to do something besides the mere flying: see lots of other planes on the ground and in the air, party with fellow aviators and live the spirit of aviation. The board of EMPOA supported the idea and so did the „boss of Tannkosh“, Verena Dolderer. The event was posted on the website in May and the booking engine went online in late June. What happened then, took all of us totally by surprise. Until the last day we had 30 Mooneys with almost 60 crewmembers registered and 25 did actually land sometime during Tannkosh 2011: some for just a few hours, most for several days. We were the largest model Fly-In during this year's Tannkosh and we did not only live the Mooney-spirit but made it visible as well: our EMPOA-tent, the Mooney-flags and EMPOA-beachflags were well noticeable to pilots and visitors alike. The impressive amount of our „reversed tails“ was a popular motive for many photographers.

EMPOA Tour 2011 01.06. - 04.06.2011
from Birgit Vogelbruch
On Juni 1st 2011 seven Mooneys flew to Deauville, LFRG. Deauville is at the Atlantic coast North of France. One week before the G8 summit was in Deauville and now the Mooniacs meet here. Klaus and Annette came from Denmark with their Mooney, the other 6 Mooneys came from Germany.

|
In Germany we had IMC but as soon as we reached France we had good weather and good visibility. In Deauville there was sun but cold winds. After a walk through the glamorous seaside resort of Deauville all Mooniacs had arrived and we went to dinner.
