EMPOA – Christmas Speyer 2018

(by Lukas Straubinger)

At 3rd of advent it was time for the annual EMPOA Christmas meeting.

By courtesy of our member Roland Kern who organized the Christmas celebration, we were invited to the city of Speyer. Due to weather only Alex Haselmann managed to fly with his Mooney while all the other Mooniacs arrived by land.

After a nice welcome drink with “come together” with “Brezeln” and sparkling wine in the control tower building the group was driven by the marshaller bus to the technic museum, where Roland Kern presented interesting facts about the exhibition. This was a really great idea for all our flying enthusiasts. Nevertheless it was also time for culture. By feet the group wend to the historical town of Speyer. At the dome of Speyer the all around Christmas flair excited everybody. Afterwards the crypt of the famous dome was visited, where four tombs of emperors and four tombs of kings from the dark ages could be seen.

Luckily between the dome and the hotel “Löwengarten” where the Christmas dinner took place, there was the Speyer Christmas market. At half past seven p.m. the Christmas celebration stared. Bevor dinner David Kromka, very convincing as Santa Clause, escorted by his “lovely angel” and wife Brita surprised the group with presents. During his speech he approached some of the major events of the year and everybody had a smile on his face. Early the next morning the last Mooniacs managed to get to their room.

The next morning a shuttle from the airfield od Speyer brought everybody back to their cars (and Alex to this plane which he could not fly back due to severe icing).

oland Kern for the very interesting weekend and the lovely Christmas celebration. Whole empoa would like to thank R hank you, Roland.
