Mooney Trip 2026 „Lausanne CH and Lyon FR“

Dear Mooniacs!
It is again with great pride and joy that I present the program of this year's Mooney trip to you.
From 10 September until 13 September 2026 our speedmachines will take you to new destinations that are both culinary and aviation highlights: Lausanne and Lyon are waiting to be explored.
10SEP2026: Lausanne is our first Switzerland destination and La Blécherette aerodrome LSGL on the northern shores of Lake Geneve will be our meeting point on Thursday 10 September. Beginning from 13H00 we will see known and new faces at this cosy airfield. You will be greeted with little snacks and a drink as well as your personal 2026 Mooney tour-shirt (probably longsleeve). La Blécherette is just a short hop from downtown Lausanne and our Moxy design hotel. Transportation will be either by public bus or taxi, some might even go for a walk.
Don't spend too much time on shopping and sleeping though because early in the evening we will board a historical cruise ship for a three-hour-dinner cruise (wine selection included) on Lac Leman. While the sun sets in the west we will exchange on what's been going on and what is still ahead.
After a possible bar stroll we will all head to bed.
11SEP2026: after breakfast at the hotel last chance to stock up on Swiss chocolate, watches, diamonds - then make your way up to the airfield again.
Engines fired up and ready to go for a scenic flight along several possible routes north or south of Geneva CTZ. We basically follow the river Rhône before landing at LFLY Lyon-Bron executive airport. There we will be greeted by some French apéro delicacies and after-landing-drinks.
A private bus will take us to our hotel in downtown Lyon. Little rest or shopping possibility before we walk to a typical Bouchon de Lyon, one of those down-to-earth restaurants where we will enjoy the nice Lyon cuisine dinner and some wine out of the typical fillette.
12SEP2026: Next morning after our hotel breakfast you will have some time on your own to explore the city, do some Haute-Couture-shopping and grab a little bite for lunch. At 13H00 we board our private bus to the little village of Rochetaillé on the banks of river Saône. Here we visit the famous collection Henri Malartre, which is housed in Rochetaillé castle. The exhibits boast more than a century of automobile history and such curiosities as the armored Mercedes of Fuehrer Adolf Hitler. Our group will be split in two: while one group does some exploration on their own, the other will get a guided tour and vice-versa.
After about 2.5 hours we continue by bus on to the pretty Beaujolais region that is known for its wine production. We visit a wine estate and get a tasting. Possibility to buy some stock for your personal cellar.
Later on, tables will be ready for our final dinner which will be held at the same vineyard, Château des Moriers at Fleurie. They will organize a three-course-dinner with wine and coffee included at their estate. Weather permitting it might even be outdoors.
Thereafter our bus will take us back to Lyon to our hotel for the last night.
13FEB2026: after breakfast it’s time to say Au Revoir to Lyon and board our bus to LFLY Bron airport where will we either start our trip back home or continue onward to interesting places.
Program parts in bold are included, drinks during the meals are generally not included except where specifically mentioned.
Price is 890 € per person in double room, 1060 € in single room.
I am aware that this year’s trip comes at a higher price than last year’s: I can only point to generally rising costs for food and accomodation but have to admit that especially our Switzerland stop has driven up costs: the dinner cruise alone comes at 170 € per person…
Nevertheless I hope to have arranged a program that many of you will like and look forward to welcoming you to yet another memorable Mooney trip.
Attention: due to limited parking space at Lausanne LSGL I can only accept 16 airplanes in total at this trip and have to limit the number of participants to 35. Mooniacs that joined on former trips will get an exclusive prebooking period until 22FEB 2026. Thereafter: First come, first serve.
Please send your booking with aircraft registration, name and number of participants, room-style (single or double) as well as shirt-size (from S to XXL) until March 15th to
Payment of 50% will be demanded at time of booking, the rest until 30 June 2026.
Cancellation rules:
- Cancellation until 15 May 2026: 35% of the trip price
- Cancellation until 15 July 2026: 65 % of the trip price
- Cancellation until 15 August 2026: 85 % of the trip price
- Thereafter or if not arriving: 95 % of the trip price.
