EMPOA SEASON'S GREETINGS

Dear EMPOA-Mooniacs!

Beautiful weather and blue skies with lots of sunshine : the airspace should be buzzing with our Mooneys. But instead our aircraft are mostly staying on ground and short local flights are the best that most of us can do from time to time.

What is euphemistically called “special situation” is actually a state of emergency that prevents us from flying and the Corona crisis means private as well as professional challenges for most of us.

We all do therefore hope that it won’t be too long until we will not only return to an often cited „new normal“ but to the well-loved old ways of working and living. Fortunately we are beginning to receive first indications that our politicians and responsibles in the governments slowly seem to incorporate other factors than the pure fight against the virus into their deicisions. We should and must not let it happen that our civil liberties like travelling will be infringed for a longer period of time.

In this context we would already like to announce today that the re-opening of the European airspace will serve as an occasion for a big EMPOA party to which we would like to invite all of you: food and drinks will be for free and we also plan to give participating planes a healthy dose of free AVGAS. If countries get the financial bazooka ready, EMPOA at least wants to launch a visible rocket. Your support in organising this and your related ideas are very much welcome, feel free to approach everyone on the board. It would be fantastic if this gathering would come out as the largest Mooney meeting that Europe has seen to date.

Another good news is the fact that even in these challenging times, our club continues to attract new members. Member number 300 was recently greeted at EMPOA and we will share his story with a detailed portrait soon.

At the end we want to inform you about an organisational change: Axel Neumann, the insurance broker of our EMPOA fleet insurance, has informed us that AXA, the insurance company that supports our joint contract wants to adjust its premiums – it is supposed to get more expensive. New as well as legacy customers would both be affected. You will get detailed information from Axel Neumann shortly since every member that is participating in the fleet insurance is a contractual partner on his/her own. As board we would like you to reflect a possible desire to foreclose your group insurance contract. We still believe that our EMPOA fleet insurance is a very good offer in today’s market. We are presently discussing the changes with Mr Neumann in order to improve AXA’s offer. But of course we are also very open to your individual input in this matter: if someone wants to become our insurance representative and believes to find better conditions elsewhere we would be more than happy to hear from you.

You won’t here the permanent « Stay healthy » from me today, I rather wish all of us fast flights as soon as possible – fly fast and happy landings !
